The Tennessee National Guard is Committed to Your Family!

The Tennessee National Guard Family Readiness Team and your Chaplains have joined forces to offer you an awesome marriage enrichment program opportunity. It is called PREP® standing for Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program. As a demonstration of the State Command’s commitment to your family, you will be paid to attend the conference with your family (split training in IDT status), and you the soldier pay no fees!

Who may attend these workshops? Anyone who has deployed since 9-11 is eligible, but a top priority will be given to the soldiers who have in the past year returned from Afghanistan and Iraq. This event is a COUPLES ONLY event, and child care will not be provided. Other workshops are scheduled in 2006 that will include children’s activities.

Is this a religious program? No! It is a research based workshop offering insights to couples who to wish cultivate a lasting love in their marriage. Couples will hear about matters vital to a successful marriage, including safe and constructive speaking, problem solving, being heard and understood, commitment, forgiveness and expectations.

Will we have to stand up and tell a bunch of people what are problems are? No! PREP® is not group therapy, and it’s not counseling either. Confidentiality is always respected and protected, but your workshop weekend will be positively focused on the skills employed to uncover the hidden issues that lie beneath the conflicts that couples inevitably face in their marriages. You will learn to recognize and overcome the danger signs that can lead to marital discord, and you’ll gain a new appreciation for who you are and for the one you love.
